Sports halls, swimming pools, leisure centres and community buildings have big, simple roofs and demanding environments underneath them. Keele University had its sports hall roof replaced in a £150k contract, and pool halls, gyms and village halls follow the same approach: survey, specify, phase and guarantee.
Large clear span roofs, often profiled metal or a curved deck, are re-sheeted, overclad or re-waterproofed while the hall stays in use where the programme allows. Keele University sports hall was a full roof replacement.
Pool halls are aggressive environments. Corrosion of fixings and decks is the usual finding, and the specification, from the fixings to the vapour control layer, is written for the humidity and chlorine underneath.
Village halls, libraries and leisure centres for local authorities and trusts, delivered under framework or tender with the pre-qualification, CPP and RAMS in place.
Sports halls and pools benefit from replacing old rooflights with larger, non-fragile, better insulated units, and we design that in as part of the roof.
Usually, yes. The roof is phased and the areas below are protected, with the disruptive work planned around the timetable and the busiest sessions.
Humidity and chlorine. The survey looks hard at the condition of the deck and fixings, and the specification uses corrosion resistant fixings, a robust vapour control layer and a membrane suited to the environment.
Yes, under framework and tender, with Constructionline Gold, CHAS, SafeContractor and Achilles accreditation and full insurance in place.
Yes. Curved sheeting, single ply and liquid applied systems all cope with curved decks, and Coventry University included a domed roof within the campus programme.
Yes. The survey, report, photographs and budget cost are free and without obligation.
A free survey, a written report and budget costs, from whichever office is closer to the building.
