Leaking gutters on industrial and commercial buildings are usually lined rather than replaced. Plygene and liquid applied gutter lining systems are installed in situ over the existing gutter, sealing joints, corrosion and cracks, with no strip out and no disruption to the production or storage underneath.
A tough thermoplastic liner welded in situ to the shape of the gutter, with all joints, outlets and end caps formed on site. It carries a manufacturer guarantee of up to 20 years and is installed from the roof with the building fully in use.
Where the gutter is complex or access is tight, a reinforced liquid applied system seals the gutter as one seamless membrane. It bonds to steel, concrete, asbestos cement and existing linings, and cures without hot works.
A leaking gutter is often an undersized or blocked one. We check the outlets and overflows against the roof area and the current rainfall data, and enlarge or add outlets as part of the lining contract so the gutter copes with the storms it will actually see.
Factories, warehouses and distribution sheds cannot stop for a gutter. All the work is done from the roof, with safety netting or mansafe lines from our own Absolute Netting division where the roof is fragile.
Lining is almost always cheaper and far less disruptive, because the existing gutter stays in place as the structure and the liner does the waterproofing. Replacement only makes sense when the gutter is structurally failed or the roof sheeting is being replaced anyway.
Plygene liners carry guarantees of up to 20 years and liquid systems up to 20 depending on the product. With the outlets kept clear, both will normally outlast the guarantee.
Yes. The liner or liquid system goes over the existing material without disturbing it, which is the safest way to deal with an asbestos cement gutter that has started to leak.
Yes, all the work is carried out from the roof. Fragile roof sheets are netted from below by our own riggers or protected with walkways and mansafe lines, and the production line underneath does not stop.
A leaking gutter over stock or machinery is treated as urgent. We attend, deal with the leak and then survey the run so the permanent lining can be priced.
